The cycle path through Holstein Switzerland
The delightful landscape of Holstein Switzerland is great to explore by bike and you can also make a detour to Berlin, Brazil and California. Too far? On the contrary, the bike tour through the interior of Schleswig-Holstein, devised by two Flair hoteliers, makes it possible.
We want to show our guests that it’s not just beautiful in the north of the Baltic Sea, ”say Kay Neeth and Henning Molt. “The interior of the country is a dream for cyclists.” That is why the two Flair hoteliers – Kay Neeth from the Flair Hotel Neeth and Henning Molt from the Flair Hotel Strengliner Mühle – have developed a 46-kilometer bike tour where you can discover exactly this typical charm.
The tour connects our two hotels – you can take different routes there and back, ”explains Henning Molt. “And on the way you pass the most beautiful corners of our homeland,” says Kay Neeth, whet the appetite for more. And there is more: Because in addition, the two Flair hoteliers have come up with rallies from their hotels. So you can extend your cycling holiday and discover other pearls of Northern Germany.
Many do not even know that the big wide world lies in Schleswig-Holstein
The Flair Landhotel Strengliner Mühle is located in Pronstorf-Strenglin. From there it takes about 2.5 hours to the outskirts of Preetz. Here, in Lehmkuhlen OT Dammdorf, the Flair Hotel Neeth welcomes its guests. The tour leads through Dersau, Ascheberg and Preetz. “Along the entire route, cyclists can expect partially untouched nature, and one or the other sight invites you to take a short break,” enthuses Henning Molt.
If you need a little more variety – the boat trip across the Great Plöner See is not just a shortcut, but also relaxation for the soul. “A lot of people don’t even know that the big wide world is in Schleswig-Holstein,” grins Henning Molt. What is meant is the small village of Weitewelt, which belongs to the community of Seedorf. You can travel through Weitewelt on the tour as well as through Berlin. Berlin? “This is not only the name of our capital, but also a small village up here,” explains the Flair hotelier.
The way back
The two hoteliers then recommend a different route from the Flair Hotel Neeth back to the Flair Landhotel Strengliner Mühle. This time it goes through Plön and Bosau. “It’s worth taking a longer break in both places,” says Kay Neeth. Plön is not only characterized by its unique location in the middle of the picturesque lake landscape, the impressive Plön Castle also invites you to visit. “We recommend a tour of the castle area with its historic buildings.” You shouldn’t miss the Prinzeninsel either. The narrow headland through the Großer Plöner See is an interesting natural experience that is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists.
In Bosau, the Dunkersche Kate with its cottage garden and bakery is well worth a detour. “There are art exhibitions and craft markets here all year round,” says Kay Neeth. The beautifully restored St. Petri Church in Bosau is the summer venue for the locally well-known summer concerts with sometimes quite spectacular performances. “Little Warder – that’s what an island is called in northern Germany – on the Bischofsee is ideal for a nice tour,” says Kay Neeth. It is located on the outskirts of Bosau. Display boards give insights into the surrounding flora and fauna.
The bike tour run by the two Flair hoteliers is suitable for both sporty riders without electrical assistance and for leisure cyclists who are out and about with an e-bike. At which hotel you start and end the tour is up to you. What is certain is that both hotels are a great place to go for the night. Both shine with cozy rooms and excellent regional cuisine. “Of course we are well prepared for the cyclists,” says Kay Neeth. Guests can conveniently park their bikes and charge e-bikes.
More bike paths
Both Flair Hotels are also the starting point for further excursions in the region. “You can plan a multi-day cycling holiday with our hotels,” explains Henning Molt. From its flair Landhotel Strengliner Mühle, for example, it’s 17 kilometers to Bad Segeberg. That should especially inspire friends of the Wild West. Because: “The Karl May Games have been staged there in an open-air theater since 1952,” reports Henning Molt. The Hanseatic city of Lübeck with its brick buildings – such as the famous Holstentor – is around 22 kilometers away. The seaside resort Timmendorfer Strand (approx. 28 km) and the holiday resort Travemünde on the Baltic Sea (approx. 36 km) are further destinations that can be reached for a day trip by bike.
From the Flair Hotel Neeth it is only around 20 kilometers to Kiel. “Our state capital offers not only a tour of the city, but also a visit to the shipping museum in the listed fish hall,” recommends Kay Neeth. Cyclists travel around 25 kilometers from his hotel to the town of Laboe on the Kieler Förder. Laboe is best known for the Naval Memorial, which commemorates the fallen sailors of the two world wars.
We are of course well prepared for the cyclists
“You can also reach beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea from our house by bike,” says Kay Neeth. Cyclists have about 20 kilometers to the Ostseebad Schönberg and another four kilometers more to the long Schönberger Strand. Have you ever been to Brazil or California? Both are possible on this bike tour. Because the community of Schönberg includes two places directly on the Baltic Sea that have these names. From the Flair Hotel Neeth it is about 25 kilometers to get there.
If you want to start pedaling right now, you are welcome to contact the hotels. Kay Neeth and Henning Molt are looking forward to their bike-loving guests.
