05 Aug Lüneburg Heath
A symphony for all senses
200 years ago, the characteristic heathlands stretched far over large parts of northern Germany. The cultural landscape that was formed by overgrazing in the Neolithic age is today kept open for grazing for heathland sheep – a traditional, native breed of sheep. In the heathland nature parks, a unique world of flora and fauna has developed which can be preserved and seen at its best in August and September in particular. Wonderful cycling and hiking trails take you to and through Lüneburg Heath. With 14 leisure parks, the comprehensive activity programme in the region is also interesting for families.
