Central starting point in Kamenz

Flair Hotel Kamenz is an ideal starting point for various activities in and around Kamenz. St. Anne’s Church was built from 1493 to 1512 and served for a long time as a prayer house for the order of the Franciscan Observatories. Meanwhile, the monastery church houses a sacral museum with treasures of late medieval church and monastery culture in Kamenz.

The Lessing House was opened in 1931 in honor of Gotthold Lessing and is still considered the most important memorial to the poet of the Enlightenment. The Lessing Museum on the first floor and the town library on the upper floor with 5,500 titles by and about Lessing allow visitors to dive deep into the writer’s world.

The cellar of the Ponickauhaus probably dates back to the founding of the town of Kamenz around 1225, and the first documented mention of the house was in 1567 as the house of the noble family of Ponickau. Today, the historic building houses exhibitions of the Museum of Western Lusatia and a regional history museum with collections on the cultural history, archaeology, geology, zoology and botany of Upper Lusatia.

The Hutberg in the Lusatian Mountains is located on the edge of the city area and is a popular destination for tourists in the region. The extensive mountain park was created as early as 1893 and is home to numerous species of conifers, rhododendrons and azaleas, attracting many guests each year around the blooming season at Whitsun. The Hutberg stage is one of the largest open-air stages in Saxony and has been used for various musical events for many years. Built in the amphitheater style, the site can accommodate up to 6,800 people during the annual concert season from May to September.

Those who want to do something social while enjoying cold drinks can get active in the two bowling alleys in the basement.
